Gets in the way of the buttons!
I was very excited to see the NFL faceplates made for the PS3 but very disappointed in the way this fit over the controller. Installation is very easy as it just snaps on the pad. Once the faceplate is snapped on, it covers the spaces between the circle, square, triangle and X buttons as well as the D-pad leaving it very difficult to push the buttons down. Having this faceplate on the control pad makes it very uncomfortable and a hassle when playing a game. I have already sent mine back to Amazon.

The case looks great and functions perfect as long as you don't use it for competive gaming because the case gets in the way of the buttons.

Don't buy two!!
I bought two of these for the PS3 (Ken & Ryu) so my girlfriend and I could play each other, but only one will work at a time. The controller itself works great! When I have both dongles in the PS3, it will not connect to both controllers. Only one seems to work at a time. I've e-mailed MadCatz twice with no response. This kinda bums me out that we can't play each other, but oh well.
Again, the controller itself works great with the game. It didn't work so well with Street Fighter 2 Turbo HD Remix, but with SF4, it's perfect. Also, I brought my PS3 to a friends house and for whatever reason, it would not connect at all. I spent about an hour turning everything off and on and reversing the order and nothing. When I got home, it worked fine....go figure. And I had the correct dongle with me.
So if you just get one, it'll work super, but two for the PS3 is a waste of money.

Best controller for fighting games
+Excellent circular floating dpad; feels even mushier than the Saturn pad. I can do all moves with ease. I've heard of other people having problems with the diagonals but mine works perfectly. Easily the best dpad for fighters.

+Face buttons are big, flat, doesn't protrude much, and are effortless to press. This is helpful if you press the buttons palm-down like on an arcade stick.

+2 turbo speeds for each button. Useful for characters with moves where you rapidly mash the button.

+Has a switch to toggle the dpad so it can act as the left analog stick/right analog stick/dpad on a PS3 controller, so it will work for more than just fighting games.

+Wireless and doesn't lag. Uses 2 AA batteries. I suggest getting 4 rechargeable AA batteries and a recharger so you can still play while 2 of the batteries are charging.

+Feels very solid and the grip is comfortable. Weighs about the same as a DualShock3.

-As of this date, does not work with PS2 games (wireless receiver doesn't turn on when PS3 is in PS2 hardware mode). Hopefully Sony will release a firmware update to fix this. It does work with PS1 games.

-There was a minor problem I encountered on the first day of using it. The controller kept rapidly pressing the down direction on the dpad. I just paused the game, pressed the dpad a few times, and the problem went away. This only happened twice on the first day of using it, and there are no problems on the third day now.

This would be the best fighting controller I've ever used if it can work on PS2 games. I prefer it over my Saturn usb pad (PS3/PC) and the Nubytech Street Fighter 15th pad (PS2).

EDIT: After using it for 4 weeks now, it is still working and I still haven't had to change the batteries. I haven't encountered the dpad problem after the first day. Highly recommended, but don't pay those outrageous $80-100 prices.

Stopped working after two weeks - buyer beware!
If Madcatz would've spent more time with quality control, this gamepad would be an absolute must-buy for Street Fighter fans. The button layout is perfect, and the d-pad is far easier to use than the stock PS3 controller's pad. Unfortunately, after two weeks of use, the buttons started to produce either incorrect responses or no response at all. Kicks wouldn't work, and punches be the wrong strength (light would produce medium and so forth). The d-pad began to combine moves - pressing up and forward would produce a jump AND a kick. While the price was appealing, the lack of quality is very disappointing.

Works like I expected it to
I've been playing with the SE fightstick for about a month now, with at least one hour of use every day. Thankfully I didn't have the loose washer issue (first thing I did was listen very carefully as I moved the stick around -- I thought it would be okay if I didn't hear any scraping/scratching noises, as I assumed the later units should not have such a big problem).

This is my first stick, so I'm no expert on them, and as such I think this is a great stick. Buttons are sensitive, the stick works well (once you get used to the square gate), and it's a nice weight so that I can set it on a chair or on my lap unsecured and it won't move too much, or at all.

After a month of use I'm beginning to suspect that some of the buttons will begin sticking, but I was aware this might happen as they're not Sanwa parts. If it becomes big enough of a problem I'll order replacement parts and swap buttons, which seems easy enough to do. After I do that I don't think I'll have any further reasons to complain.

All in all, this is a bit more expensive than I would expect for an arcade stick (by $15-$20) that doesn't have premium arcade parts and seems designed as a starting point for modification. All indications point to a product out-of-the-box that has a limited life before it starts having issues (though online discussion is going to be biased towards those who have problems). With that being said, I'm not unhappy with my purchase at all, and neither are the dopamine receptors in my brain every time I get my hands on this thing. (Now if only I could find some opponents online with whom I match up well...)

A decent fightstick with some quirks
The stick used for this is trash. The first day I received this, the stick was already faulty because the stick was not able to register a few motions. It turns out the stick is actually a Sanwa knockoff and it shows by its poor quality. I was forced to replace the stick with a Sanwa one, which was something I was already planning on doing. The buttons on the fightstick is mostly good, except after using it for over a month, my roundhouse button has started to act up. It will mostly register the action, but once in a while, it will not. Like the stick, I will be replacing the buttons with Sanwa parts really soon.

Other than those two problems, the fightstick itself is fine. It is small and portable and it feels nice using it. The layout of the buttons is great and the spacing between the stick and buttons is great too. The fightstick is also very easy to mod so you can easily swap out the stick, buttons or the artwork without any problem.

My recommendation is if you have the money for the TE fightstick, then go for it. If not, then this is a decent alternative with a few problems.

PC Compatibility Warning!
There is a significant chance that this stick will NOT work on your PC. Please read this review if you plan to purchase this product for use with Street Fighter IV for the PC!

This problem affects only the PS3 MadCatz fight sticks. This affects both the Tournament Edition and the white Standard Edition Street Fighter IV fight sticks. This problem does not affect the MadCatz X-Box 360 fight sticks.

In technical terms, you will need an Intel motherboard. If you do not have an Intel motherboard then you will need a 3rd party USB PCI card with a VIA chipset. The USB card MUST have a VIA chipset. No other chipset will work with the PS3 MadCatz fight sticks. Your PC will need a free PCI slot for the USB card. The following USB card has been confirmed by the Street Fighter IV community to work: 4+1 Port USB 2.0 PCI Desktop Card - VIA Chip Set

Please note that this is specifically a hardware compatibility problem and it does not matter which version of Windows you are running.

If you do not understand these technical terms then that is perfectly okay. A safe alternative is the MadCatz X-Box 360 fight sticks which have been confirmed to work on the PC without the above problems.
