    New Gameplay Features
Designed to mimic the true physical nature of the action seen in the NBA, and to allow players at home to use their basketball IQ in-game, new gameplay features in NBA LIVE 10 provide an even greater sense of authentic NBA action. Just a few of these features include: the frantic action of "Hustle Plays," where players can scramble for loose balls leading to transitional offense, including fast-break points and an easy dunks; "Size-ups," an easily launched gameplay mechanic that allows the ball handler to set up defenders off the dribble according to the abilities of the real NBA player represented; and more authentic rebounding functionality that reflects sound basketball fundamentals, including the ability to box out opponents, battle for the ball and tip it to yourself. Together these features allow the action in NBA LIVE 10 to flow like no basketball game before it.

    Dynamic DNA
NBA LIVE 10 features an updated version of Dynamic DNA. A data driven emulation of the actual skills, tendencies and health that each of the NBA players featured in the game bring to the floor throughout the 09-2010 season, Dynamic DNA provides the stats players at home need to evaluate individual team members from the first day they walk on to the court, through the playoffs. Derived from statistical data collected by real pro scouting firms observing each possession in-game players participate in during the real-world season, this data drives all aspects of the game's AI, affecting both actions during individual possessions and overall strategy. Whether players at home are making team decisions based on game-over-game offensive or defensive performance, or specializations within these such as substitutions of players based on their ability to rebound, make assists or get stops and steals, their field goal and/or free throw percentages and 3-point shooting, Dynamic DNA provides the realistic baseline data you need to make the right changes to your roster.

    Fun, but Frustrating3
I received NBA Live 10 as a gift nearly a month ago, and have since had a lot of fun playing many games in many different modes - but unfortunately, a fair bit of frustration as well. I'm glad I held off on reviewing it till now, because at first I would have attributed annoyances such as ridiculous turnovers, lackluster AI, and bizarre gameplay to a lack of familiarity with the system. After extensive gameplay, however, I can confidently say that while this game is a lot of fun, there are some quirks that really should have been worked out prior to release.

I'm a big NBA fan, and an even bigger NBA video game fan. I've owned Lives going back to '96 (Sega Genesis), but eventually starting getting 2K games instead. I enjoyed the online gameplay of 2K8 and 2K9, and have enjoyed online gameplay of Live 10 as well...I find that playing against a human opponent eliminates some of the frustrations associated with the computer's AI, but not all of it. While I won't say this game is so annoying that I'd consider returning it, I would say that I perhaps would be reluctant to play Live 11 if these issues aren't resolved.

    THE GOOD
    1. Graphics are good. Not necessarily the best, since I think that NBA 2K9 had better graphics (especially the level of detail available in instant replay), but I think any sports fan would appreciate the level of detail in the game. The audience is also very realistic, I like that EA chose to pay attention to that; at times you feel like you're watching a real game!

    2. Up to date! NBA Live 10's internet connectivity features are great. Like its Live predecessors, as well as the 2K Series' previous installments, NBA Live 10 utilizes your PS3's internet connection to get the latest rosters for games. Also, through the "Dynamic DNA" feature, you not only can get latest roster updates, but player attributes such as shooting accuracy can be updated, say if the player is experiencing a shooting streak/drought in real life. These are very cool features that make for a more accurate game.

    3. Good online play. Plenty of opponents to play against, and while there can be lag depending on who you play against, this is a very fun aspect of the game that I highly recommend.

    4. Great play-by-play announcing. Glad NBA Live has Marv Albert aboard, gives it a real feel! Also, there is a LOT of audio commentary recorded, so it doesn't get too repetitive too quickly.

I'm sure there are other great features of the game that I'm overlooking at the moment, but that's partially cause I'm frustrated with...

    THE BAD

    1. Be prepared for tons of turnovers in this game. Regardless of your skill level, this game has a highly unrealistic amount of errors on the part of even the best ball-handlers. When you drive to the lane, you often end up turning it over; when you're advancing the ball upcourt, you often end up turning it over; even when you pass to someone right next to you, you often end up turning it over! Needless to say, this aspect of gameplay becomes really annoying, really quickly. I understand in real life turnovers DO happen, but this is excessive.

    2. How can some of the best players miss wide open jumpers, dunks, or layups, that they would never miss in real life? When driving uncontested to the hoop and pressing the shoot button, why does a player sometimes attempt an awkward double clutch layup that'll miss versus a really easy one that'll go in? My favorite is when someone drives in to the hoop from the side, and has their shot miss off the side of the backboard (or better yet, the back of it). I understand if this happened occasionally, but it unfortunately happens way too much.

    3. Backcourt violations are way too frequent, and it's beyond me why players so frequently pass behind them when there are open players in front ... especially if you're trying to direct their pass forward! A disproportionate number of passes also end up going to players who are stepping out of bounds. Don't get me wrong, you can work around these and still win games, but it's just frustrating to endure seemingly idiotic decision-making by the players on the virtual court.

    4. Frequently you can't pass once you go up for a shot. Say you're driving in the lane and want to kick it out to an open man for a quick three. Sometimes you can, sometimes you can't...which becomes very annoying!

    5. A dedicated alley-oop button (triangle) is just weird. First of all, if you're playing fast pace and running the court well, you can easily get a ridiculous number of alley-oops in a game, just because having a dedicated button makes it that easy. On the other hand, if you're playing it slow and accidentally end up pressing triangle, you throw a dangerous pass that can easily result in a turnover, or result in a strange sort of catch-and-shoot that almost always misses.

    6. My biggest gripe about controls is that square is both Steal AND Shoot. Which means that if you were successful on D and got the ball, you might end up firing a prayer from the end of the court. Stealing should be a separate button from shooting to avoid a bizarre number of full-court shots.

    7. Offensive fouls happen WAY too much. If you hold the right control stick down, you can draw a charge. In other games, you sometimes draw the charge, but more often get called for a defensive foul. In this game, you can easily draw dozens of offensive fouls if you choose to do so, which can practically guarantee a win. Some people that you play against online figured this out, and playing against them is a real pain since every single possession of yours results in an offensive foul! I wish that aspect of gameplay was more realistic.

    FINAL THOUGHTS
Some additional features that would have been nice would have been more camera angles to choose from. I understand even game developers realize throwing in a million camera angles won't make a bad game better - evident in NBA 2K9 having far fewer camera choices than 2K8, for example - but 4 is a bit limited.

Pre-game introductions could have been made cooler; clearly EA knows how to put together cinematics, I swear I've seen the Dwight Howard/Lebron James exchange at the gym that the game begins with a million times, so I don't know why didn't put a cooler pre-game cinematic to introduce the players!

Lastly, a more polished feel would be nice. I like how both 2K and Live employ extensive use of cuts and camera angles in their in-game automatic replays, to make it look like a telecast...what I don't like in Live is that at the end of the game, they don't offer the same polished replays as they do in-game, say for the top plays or players. In 2K9 they had the option that you can rewatch really nicely edited videos of the top plays of each player...in Live 10, there's an option to rewatch replays through the game's Instant Replay viewer, which gives it a less refined look than the in-game replays that look like what you normally see on TV.

As you can see, this game has a lot of shortcomings! That being said, if you want strong graphics, and an up-to-date roster to get in the action on the latest NBA games, Live 10 is a good option. But beware that you might find gameplay to be frustrating at times; hopefully EA Sports will rectify this problem in Live 11.

    Great game5
Very cool game. As you play, it links up with ESPN and you hear real time updates from the day's sports news and games. Cool feature. Also allows you to shoot around during loading screens which is way cooler than staring at a screen and doing nothing.

Fun game, but frustrating at times3
I bought this game after trying demos of this game and nba 2k10. The game looks really nice on my hd tv.
but like most reviews on here state, you turn the ball over alot. players make silly passes, and miss way too many open easy shots.
then the cpu comes right back and makes the same shot you just missed, and makes it nothing but net lol.
i find myself losing quite often and grunting at the game lol. but i still enjoy playing it

Get ready to rumble, even with PS 2 games!5
I was already extremely happy with the Sixaxis controller, but I could not resist getting the DualShock 3. Not only do you get the rumble, but also, it feels much better in your hands, even for those games that do not use this feature. The rumble function is fun, but on top of that, it helps with gameplay, because "feeling" what is happening provides a lot more feedback than just watching how your character or car reacts to the environment.

The biggest surprise of all was that the rumble works with PS 2 games in the PS 3 system. I am currently playing through "God of War", a game which had the rumble capability in PS 2. I thought that it was unlikely that I was going to get this feature with this new controller in the PS 3, but it worked perfectly.

I know that having to buy a new controller and basically discard the one that came with the system is not the ideal situation, but I have to say this product is really worth shedding the extra bucks.

Tested on Playstation 1, 2, and 3 games - it works GREAT on all of them!5
Well folks, now that the dust has settled from the Sony vs. Immersion lawsuit, Playstation 3 owners are finally able to feel the vibe again!

I purchased this controller today and I knew the only way to properly road-test it was on the game that made the Dualshock famous, Metal Gear Solid. After booting up the game, I walked down the hallway and got spotted by a guard. As he shouted, "WHO'S THAT?" the controller jumped in my hand - and I knew this was a smart purchase. As the guards shot at me, I felt the feedback of the bullets, just as I had 10 years ago on my Sony Playstation.

I picked out another old school Playstation game, Tenchu: Stealth Assassins. From Ayame's blades to Rikimaru's sword, each sword swipe and jump had excellent feedback.

Okay, so my Playstation games worked out. But what about my Playstation 2 library?

I popped in God of War, knowing I had to feel the swing of the Blades of Chaos. The controller vibrations felt a little lighter here, but the vibrations still occurred at the appropriate times.

Then I chose Incredible Hulk Ultimate Destruction. Who better to test a vibration controller than the Sultan of Smash? All the power jumps and smashes had the vibrations intact, but they still felt a little on the light side.

All right, so far I was two for two with my Playstation and Playstation 2 test subjects. But what about my Playstation 3 games? Could I possibly hit a trifecta?

I put in Uncharted: Drake's Fortune and I decided to jump right into a heated firefight. The controller gave me feedback while shooting weapons and getting hit by enemy fire, but I knew my purchase was justified when Drake was near death: I FELT THE DUALSHOCK 3 PULSING IN SYNCH WITH DRAKE'S HEARTBEAT. It's one thing to hear that noise and know he's near death, it's quite another to feel the pulse in my own hands.

Okay, so the feedback on the older games was there, but a little lighter than I remember. The reason? Well, when I decided to go wireless on my Playstation 2 system, I bought a Logitec Dualshock controller. It turns out, that controller takes two "AA" batteries, and the vibration motors inside the controller handles are slightly larger than the ones in the Dualshock 3. That's where I felt the difference.

The Dualshock 3 vibrations may be slightly less than the Logitec controller, but it doesn't require the purchase of batteries.
The Dualshock 3 may be slightly heavier than the SixAxis, but it doesn't take up any extra space at all.

Sure, the price is about $15 more than the SixAxis, but it's a worthy upgrade for the Playstation 3 gamer who kicks it old school as well as new school. The only other drawback is the lack of an additional USB cable - but we can use the one that came with the system itself.

    So what's the final verdict?

Order it, plug it in, charge it up, and get ready for the inevitable downloads from the Playstation Store to make the older PS3 games Dualshock 3 compatible.

I wouldn't recommend a feedback peripheral without providing my own feedback...

    Enjoy!

Should've been rumble from the start.5
The Playstation 2's highly regarded DualShock 2 controller was considered by many to be the best videogame controller of all time. So when you've got a winning design there's no need to change anything. However, because of a legal battle with Immersion over rumble technology, Sony was forced to offer their Sixaxis controller without rumble. The Sixaxis had the same Dualshock design but it felt too lightweight and cheap. Thankfully the lawsuit has been settled and rumble has come back to the Playstation.

For the most part, the DualShock 3 is almost identical to its PS2 precessor. But it has all the features of the original Sixaxis controller in addition to rumble. The controller is still wireless, can be charged by plugging it into your PS3 (or PC), rumble is compatible with all PS1 and PS2 games, and the PS3 supports up to 7 controllers at the same time via bluetooth. Rumble in the DualShock 3 seems more responsive in regards to the location of its vibration depending on which side you get hit on during the games. I don't know if this is something in the design or if it's the developers doing it for the games but I welcome it.

All in all this is currently the best designed controller on the market right now. The PS2's DS2 was incredible so "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" applies here. I'll be enjoying rumble in my PS3 games from now on.

    GameSpot Review
Like clockwork, EA Sports has brought the magic of the NBA Live series to the PlayStation for another year. Like any good sports series, a slew of new touches has been added, the most notable of which is the inclusion of Michael Jordan in the game's lineup. Yes, along with all the actual players, teams, and arenas of the NBA, the game also includes all-star teams composed of players from the last five decades, letting you play as some of the greatest players ever to set foot on the court. While the game includes several modes of play, such as an arcade mode with exaggerated dunks and flaming basketballs, a three-point shootout, and a one-on-one street-ball mode, the game's main focus is still happily on season mode and actual NBA basketball with actual NBA rules. NBA Live 2000's easy-to-use control scheme lets you jump right in and start taking the ball to the hoop. Once you've got the basics down, you can start experimenting with the game's more-advanced control scheme, which not only lets you pull off more maneuvers on the court, but also lets you set up offensive and defensive formations. The computer AI ranges from easy to hard (unless you're playing the one-on-one mode against Jordan, who always seems difficult to beat), depending on what difficulty setting you have the game set on. The computer teams set up plays and run them at the appropriate time. For instance, you'll see the computer kill the clock in the closing seconds of a game if it has the advantage, forcing you to put on a little full-court press. Visually, the game looks quite nice. The players are good representations of their real-life counterparts. Their animation and moves are smooth and look quite natural. The game features multiple camera angles and zoom settings, letting you see the action from just about anywhere you like. The game also features an instant replay that shows dramatic points in a game, like big dunks. During the replays you can catch a glimpse of the players up close and actually see the expressions on their faces change. In the audio department, NBA Live 2000 does a decent job of re-creating the sounds of the NBA experience. The game's sneaker squeaks, dribbling, and various other sound effects are accurate. The play-by-play calls along with the roar of the crowd really draws you into the game. One nice audio touch happens when you use created players. If you enter a last name for your created player, and that name is the same as that of one of the players from the NBA, such as Anderson or Miller, the game will recognize it, and the announcer will call out the name during play. In the end, NBA Live 2000 is a good basketball game for the PlayStation. While it doesn't offer anything spectacular in graphics, control, or any one category, the game's overall feel and look is quite good. Fans of the NBA Live series will undoubtedly see it as the best iteration of the series yet for the PlayStation. The extras - like the arcade mode, one-on-one, and three-point contest - are nice and add to the game's value. Fans of previous versions of Live will have a good time.--Ryan Mac Donald--Copyright © 1998 GameSpot Inc. All rights reserved. Still the best game in town but could be better5
EA Sports continues to dominate the b-ball gaming market with yet another strong title in this well-established franchise. It's rather surprising to see just how inferior its competitors are. Take, for example, Fox Sports Basketball 2000. It contains some nice features but overall produces amateurish gameplay. This is not the case with NBA Live. Gameplay is as smooth as ever. And the addition of the legends adds another attractive dimension to the game, sure to be a hit with basketball purists and fans everywhere. My only criticism is that certain features seemed to have been overlooked. What happened to the TNT and TBS licenses with the game? And though the game lauds the new addition of Reggie Theus bringing color commentary, he might as well not be there. He chimes in usually between quarters and adds nothing at all. Really disappointing there. That's where LIVE could actually learn something from the Fox Sports game. Doc Rivers provided lengthy color commentary which, though sometimes repetitive, was much more interseting and substantial than Reggie's poor offering.

    The best NBA Live yet!5
OK, let's get the first question answered right away. Is NBA Live 2000 better than NBA Live 99? The answer is YES. Amazingly, Electronic Arts continues to push the Playstation chipset harder than ever. While the graphics are certainly watered down when compared to the PC version, you forget all of that when you get a group of trash-talking friends to gather around a big TV set, each holding a Dual Shock controller. And yes, His Airness, Michael Jordan, has returned to video hoops. NBA Live 2000 contains All Star teams from the 50's through the 90's. A number of legends from the past can be accessed including Wilt Chamberlin, Jerry West, Oscar Robertson, and Bill Russel. Once one of these greats is unlocked he can be activated to be a part of a free agent pool and available to join your team. NBA Live 2000 may not be the eye candy that is NBA 2K on the Dreamcast, but there's no denying that the game plays very well and contains a ton of features not available anywhere else. For example, in the General Manager mode you can build your team into a dynasty over as many as ten seasons. What I found astounding is that a player's attributes will build up and decline as the years progress. Don Poier and Reggie Theus provide the play-by-play and color commentary, respectively. I thought Theus' performance was pretty weak. EA, well-known for its excellent use of audio in its games, should have done better here. On the positive side, the crowd reacts as expected, adding excitement to the game. A solid and feature-packed hoops game. Highly recommended.

    NBA Live 20005
EA didn't miss a shot while creating this game! Without a doubt their best basketball game for the PlayStation. Even when I try, it is hard to find a thing that is wrong with the game.

The 1-on-1 vs MJ is a great new feature. Not only do you just play 1-on-1 vs Big Mikey, but you can also play against any other player in the game. (However you cannot be MJ himself unless you beat him in superstar mode. You must also unlock players from the past before you can be them. (Such as Dr. J, Wilt Chamberlain, and Bob Cousy.))

The new "Unlocking Ledgends" feature was cool, although I hardly ever use it. You can get some great old timers to play with. I don't use it much but if I'm ever bored with the game (which I never am) then it's just another little extra that I can go to.

The NBA Season Draft is also cool as well as the Create-a-player feature. (Both were also included in Live '99 and other games) but they're still cool.

The gameplay is about the same as Live '99 but the graphics stand out much more. There are also plenty of moves to keep you interested such as alley-oops whenever you want, new dribbling moves and passing fakes, and high-quality realistic-looking in-your-face dunks. (Just pick Tim Duncan or Antoine Walker and you'll understand what I mean about the dunking part) This game has enough moves to keep your hands full for a while.

One minor problem that I had with the game: The Arcade mode is unreal and just plain flat out boring. But that wasn't much of a problem since you can toggle between Arcade and Simulation. Always pick Simulation.

This game is without a doubt the best NBA (or College) Basketball game I have ever played.

    A lot fo fun4
If you like the card game you will love this game. It is actually much easier than the card game because it keeps track of all the power levels etc. I got this for my 6 year old son for Christmas. I enjoy playing this with him. You can play in story mode and go on quests with different characters or play in arcade mode. Some of the characters you run up agaiinst are chalenging but not too hard. Very well done.

    Duel Masters is FUN!!!4
This game is real fun.You can play as Rusty,Luc,Rebecca,Flynn, and Trey. Each player has a different element. Rusty has fire. Luc has light. Rebecca has water. Flynn has dark. Trey has nature. This game is easier than Yu-gi-oh. It is hard but not too hard.

    Role playing card game3
Kids love this game. When their copy broke, I had to buy them a new copy as soon as possible. They think this game is great, and the many different kinds of monsters they can find in this game keeps them playing.

    I really enjoyed this game!5
I dont know why so many people have been hating on this game. I think it was a great first NBA Street game to hit the next gen systems. I dont think any NBA Street will be as good as Vol. 2 but, this game still has a lot to offer. In High Def it looks awesome, and although almost all of the tricks and dunks are totally impossible to do in real life, it is still really really fun! Plus now that the price is dropped its not hard to find this game for under 20 bux.. definately worth it!

Fun but too easy to beat4
Nba street homecourt was a fun game for the first couple of weeks but then after that i haven't pulled it out since. It has a good leagecy type mode but once you beat that there's not much to do.

    Good arcade Basketball game3
If you're looking for an arcade basketball game, this is it. If you haven't played an NBA Street before, they are some of the most quality arcade basketball games on the market. Gameplay consists of many tricks and maneuvers to gain points and there is a lot of dunking involved. The game isn't realistic to any degree, but is a lot of fun to play co-operatively or competitively. However, the game does get boring pretty fast and therefore is only worth it if you plan to play it casually with friends.
