Video Review: AX 720 vs. AX 180 Headset. Both Rock!
Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R190FT0OD5BXV3 I did this video review to help anyone out there with the same issues I had.
Hopefully this will help gain the insight you'll need to make a decision.

Does everything except make an espresso
For me sound quality and versatility is far more important than being wireless. After trying the TB-x31 and TB-x41's and up late at night reading hundreds of reviews , certainly for me versatility and sound quality far outweighs being wireless. Reasons: Do you do jumping jacks or play your games 20' from your TV? If so, go wireless and don't read the rest of this review.
Versatility: As stated on the box, this gear will work on just about any audio devices you use. Here's my brief review on the 360, PS3, iPhone and Mac.
360: Well before I start I'll explain my set up. I'm running my 360 via HDMI. So there's a little snag when it comes to hooking up the optical cable. It's not Trittons fault. It's actually Microsoft's blunder integrating the optical hook up with the video housing on the component cable. As you may already know its not a good fit using both if you want to use optical audio due to the housing being too enormous for the HDMI to be plugged in at the same time.
You are probably wondering why not use my monitors optical connection. Well to be honest the sound is not as loud running it that way compared to running it direct from the 360. Hence much better sound quality. I don't know why that is. But it only does it using the 360. So my advice, hook up the optical cable DIRECTLY on the 360. (When using an HDMI, there's a way to take the massive housing off the component cable to make it slimmer. Its what I did and it works flawless) Again its not Tritton it's MS. Also realized that the mic worked a lot clearer and free of static. ***NOTE*** ---> this will probably solve the problem other people said about the static issues with their mic.
Still on the 360. sound is superb. I can definitely say the sounds quality are leaps and bounds over the competition. I will admit it's even better than my bos* over the ear headphones. Great balance on the highs and lows. The bass will not drown out all the sound. While gaming and chatting it up with mates there's no monitor on the mic. Which means you cant hear yourself talking on the speakers. For me it was never was an issue. I just talk at a normal volume. Trust me you will be heard. According to other players my voice is loud and clear. No echo, no static like people have said. Again that's probably due to using the lcd's optical connection instead of the 360. (starting to sound like a broken record here)
Ok moving on. PS3: My set up: I have hooked up to my LEDLCD, using the optical from the amp to the ps3, and have the usb cable plugged in from the amp to the ps3 for mic functionality. This is where the sound quality really came to life. Two words. BLU RAY. Movies sounded amazing. Taking advantage of blu rays ability to store uncompressed audio. Lets just say it competes with some home theater set up costing hundreds of clams. On games like Uncharted, simply blissful. Definitely going to play through it again to get the full audio experience. Hook up was easy no snags like the 360. But be sure to change your audio set up to optical at the settings menu. Chat: flawless.
Mp3 players and other audio devices: You can use these with the 3.5 mm jack adapter is came it. There, just like a regular pair of headphones. But with primo sound quality.
Mac: You will need an optical mini adapter to use the Trittons AMP. You can pick one up for under 5 bucks. Chatting it up on skype is crisp and clear. Also you can use the 3.5 mm jack with out using the amp. The mic will still work fine. The amp is just to process dolby sound. SO if you want dolby get the optical mini adapter.
VERDICT:
If you want to get your $$$ worth and use your headset on multiple devices rather than just a few. This is the one for you. For 130, you will not be disappointed. This trumps the x41 and yeah it's much cheaper. Only thing the TBx31 and x41 has over these is that it's wireless and has monitor mic. Which for me is really not a factor. Between the AX720 and x41, the sound quality on the AX720 is far more superior. + the popping on the TB devices drove me nuts.
Good all around GAMING headset!
--I needed a nice headset for late night gaming. (As to not wake the neigbors, and what not) I searched for the best, which would probably be the Astro headset. However, the price, at almost $300 put me off abit. The tritton 720's, a nice quality headset for a nice price. I bought these for my PS3 only. The features:
1) Sturdy quality
2) Microphone, solid and bendable
3) comfort level is a 9 (headset is a little heavy) but not terrible, no neck fatigue, or head aches, even after long hours of game play, but I do get up to fix drink, rest room...etc.
4) Speaker volume, microphone volume/mute (both are seperately controlled), very nice...sometimes you wanna play with your buds, sometimes you want strangers to shut up. *flip the switch...all you got is game sound!
5) I find the controls and set up very easy to use and manage. Nothing is complicated or cumbersome. *note this is NOT a wireless headset. The wire is nice and long, got the voice control velcroed to the side of my Lazy-boy. Plenty of wire to not compromise my mobility. On a surpising note...I can actually hear other things going on in the house, phone ringing, doorbell, etc... I thought for sure I would be closed off to the world..NOT SO!
6) Head phones are very nice and comfy. Surrounds the ENTIRE ear! One bad note, it seems the padding comes off a little too easy. So far it isn't anoying (yet) But I have to pull the head phones apart then take the set off. Do not recommend that you just pull them off of your head. --this almost cost it a star...it still might.
I have read over many reviews, including Amazon that the next version up of this headset, which is $200, is nothing but problems...that was a main decsion factor in my purchase of this headset. Also finding a PS3 compatible headset seemed to be kind of an issue. Other thoughts:
1) movie watching...very nice, sound quality is good, bass is nice...no complaints. Is it the same as your surround sound set? Hell no! But a wonderful compromise for late night gaming or movie watching in private.
2) Music? don't know, don't care...not the purpose of these headphones. Not what they are advertised for or for what they are intended. I play games and watch/listen to the occasional movie with them. For this purpose, they fit the bill, the price is right, the quality is solid.
Setup:
I found the installation to be easy and straightforward (PS3) Took all of 4 mins to install and play! Literally plug and play! The directions are superb!
Final thought: Two thumbs up. If you are looking for a quality, working, easy set-up gaming head phone, look no further. The price is perfect. These are my first headphones..so I am not sure about the others, but I like these and hope that they last awhile. If they dont, I will be getting the Astro's. I have had these for over two months, so far good so good.
