My first game
I received a PS2 this Christmas and CoD3 was the first game I played. I had not played the other 2 so I can't compare. For me I had fun with this game. It was many hours of play.
Basically your rotate between scenes playing the Americans, British SAS, Poles, and Canadians.
Game play took a little for me as I was not used to the game controller but I did pick it up.
Probably the hardest for me was hill 262 with the Poles. One that took a bit was defending a town(I forget which part of the game) but it involved finding areas to blow with gas mains.
Some weapons were short for ammo, especially if you shoot a great deal. The German weapons taken from the dead didn't seem to remain for a long time so you have only so much time.
The hand to hand scenes seemed way to easy and the rifle but attack seemed hard (probably due to my lack of experience with the game controller).
There are extras on the game. You can see art work, the movies in the game and interviews with some WWII veterens. No German vets however.
Overall I am happy with the game and will replay it and see if things are different.
Do get a memory card as the game does auto saves.
Still answering the call for the PS2
With the current gen system's life cycles dwindling down ever so much, it's nice to see that Activision ported Call of Duty 3 to the PS2. It's even nicer to see that Call of Duty 3 looks surprisingly good and plays nearly as good as it does on next-gen systems. You know the setting, you know the story. The only thing you may not know about Call of Duty 3 is that the graphics, while not without some hiccups, look pretty good for a PS2 game, and the sound and audio effects are simply superb. Seriously, this game has some of the best sound effects you will hear in a PS2 game. The online multiplayer is a blast to play too, but what really hurts the game is that the PS2 online play can get really choppy. That aside though, the single player mode is still very engaging and overall fun, but as a whole, Call of Duty 3 isn't really all that different from last year's Call of Duty 2: Big Red One for the PS2. That could be a good thing or a bad thing depending on the player, so fans who may be looking for something different from what they usually get may be a little disappointed. Not to mention that while the single player mode may be great, it is pretty short. All in all though, Call of Duty 3 is still an excellent first person shooter, and should definitely be checked out by all those who aren't looking to dive into the next-gen just yet.
Very fun but too easy(on normal difficulty)
Call of duty 3 is a great game. the action and graphics are amazing. You also learn about WW2 weapons and see interviews with real veterans from not only the U.S. but a Polish soldier and a Canadian or British (i can't remember which right now). I have one problem, it is too easy. It didn't take long to beat and some of the levels only take five or so minutes to beat. there are only about 15 or 16 levels (somewhere in there). It is great, just too easy. Also, you can't skip the movies, you have to watch them every time you start a level. I do suggest you get it. (I am now adding something later if you play the game on hard, the difficulty is much harder. Not just a little, give the game challange even if you have beat it once or twice on normal.)
