NCAA GameBreaker 2001

NCAA GameBreaker 2001

Welcome to the last step before the professionals: the NCAA Division 1-A. All 115 teams are represented, as are the stages of their living place. It can be installed on a gaming machine fall or cool its equipment to the Rose Bowl. Total Game Control function allows you to switch from lead or their receptors in underthrow to react to the defensive strategy. In career mode, play as a coach, coordinator or assistant and work your way up the ladder to better jobs in big schools. And perhaps best of all, you can take your best people over to the professionals you download your copy of NFL Gameday 2001.

Also in the NCAA Gamebreaker 2001 are 64 teams that made the history of the NCAA and bowl games in 21 seasons. Up to eight players can compete with the Multi Tap accessories sold separately. And with the recent retirement Keith Jackson on board for the play-by-play, you know it'll be fun. Whoa, Nelly!

    Amazon.com Review
Talk about complete! NCAA GameBreaker features all 115 division 1-A teams and 64 of the best college-football dynasty teams in the history of the NCAA. This version's Total Control Mode allows you to fine-tune your passing game or send a running back for a short pass out of the backfield to throw off the defense. Add a newly modified career mode, and this game has all the trimmings that might give this title a pass to a big bowl game in January.

The motion capture has been redone, and the on-field tackling and blocking animations are crisp and clean looking. The animations keep up with the gameplay, and the control is the best part of this game.

Unfortunately, the sound is terrible. If a running back is gonna get tackled, then it should at least sound like a running back is getting tackled. Not to mention the crowd noise--it's more of a hiss than a roar. Keith Jackson is back doing the commentary this year. But like Madden's voice-overs on the Nintendo 64, Jackson has very little to actually say, and his phrases get repetitious fast.

GameBreakeris ultimately a solid NCAA pigskin simulation that fans should enjoy. In any case, it's still a lot cheaper than sending the kids to college! --Todd Mowatt

    Pros:

  • Modified career mode
  • Great control

    Cons:
  • Terrible sound effects
  • Keith Jackson's small repertoire of phrases quickly becomes repetitive

    The best5
Gamebreaker is year in and year out the best college football game, and with the changes that 989 made this year, they will reign again. If you like head to head action and playing against freinds, this si the game for you. 2001 will also feature the poular career mode, where you coach a program to glory or defeat!

    A solid game.4
NCAA Gamebreaker 2001 is a solid game, and it is much improved over last year's title. I found this to be more fun than EA's rehash, and I really like playing it. Casual fans will probably enjoy NFL GAMEDAY 2001 more, but being a college football fan, I really enjoyed what is here.

    Good, But EA is Better3
This is a good game if you can't get a hold of EA Sports College Football 2001. The AI of the PSX is great so that you cannot continually beat teams and the career mode is fun where you jump from school to school just like a real coach. The problems are that you actually fumble the ball when you are running by yourself and the recruiting is a joke. Plus tackling is much too hard. They treat every running back like he is Suan Alexander.

    RIDICULOUS1
The game itself is good. As far as the glitches it has; totally unacceptable! I am talking every time I play the game it locks up. They need to re issue with better quality. EA sports needs to fire whoever came out with this game.

    MM073
You might want to wait awhile before purchasing this game. As late as it came out for the BB season, it obviously was released too early. Game is very buggy and has frozen up on me 4 times in 2 days of play. Some facets of the game do not work properly though actual gameplay can be fun. There are a couple of things differant during gameplay from last years version and is fun to play but unless you just have to have it now it might be best to wait for the bugs to be worked out of it.

    Glitched and messed up1
overall this game is fun, but it tends to freeze alot. when in the middle of the game and it freezes, you need to restart the system. i even tried it on my ps3 to see if it would freeze less. no result. the graphics arent as good as the 2k7 college game. overall i am saying, if you buy this game you just wasted 30 bucks.

    Dynasty Warriors with Gundam4
Plays exactly like Dynasty Warriors series and Samurai Warriors. If you like the other games then you'll probably like this too. I don't mind the hack and slash games, but I only played Dynasty Warriors 4 and 5 on the PS2 and Samurai Warriors. I would recommend this to those that like the other series just because well it's a little new. It plays the same and all, but with the added Gundam theme. It's basically just like going from Dynasty Warriors to Samurai Warriors. Story isn't really that great though, but if you just wanna destroy 1000 enemies then this is it. I have only watched G Gundam and Gundam Wings, so I'm not sure how the other series was. But characters comes from all over the series, but only Domon from G Gundam and Heero from Gundam Wing is in here. Cuz I don't really recognize any of the other Gundams.

The game to me is shorter then the other series because well, there's really no more then 4 missions for each character. And it basically just drag each mission on to about 15 - 30 min. So basically to level your pilots (max 30) or Gundam (max 10) you would have to play the mission over and over. That's probably why they give the option to play with a pilot using different Gundam. Along with the cutscene and victories, they seem to be all the same no matter what Pilot you use. But there is a "Offical Mode" which follows the Gundam storyline, and it will end the same, with the same cut scenes no matter what side you pick....... The "Original Mode" Which is a story about a mysterious planet and all Gundam pilots are just thrown in there.

If you like the series, but don't like the Gundam theme then I suggest you just wait for Dynasty Warriors 6.

    A much needed change.4
I have played several installments of the Dynasty Warriors series and it never truly felt anything had really changed. Like Street Fighter, the games used the same formula with new characters and for loyal fans, it worked but unless you were a fan of the series, it just wouldn't grab your attention. I've watched several Gundam series over the years and was excitied when I first heard of this game. I had read good reviews on it and many people I spoke with said it was worth a look so I bought a copy and have loved it. I can tell you right now that many Gundams are not included in this game mainly from the G-Gundam series though to be fair, many would prefer more Gundams from the Gundam Wing Series. I honestly would like to see Dragon Gundam and DeathScythe Gundam in this game but I am hoping they will do a sequel and add those Gundams in. Still regardless of how I would like certain characters added in, I still very much enjoy playing this game. It is just great fun to have several Zaku mobile suits coming at you at once and you just unleash combos on all of them and before you know it, you have already put down 100 enemies in less than a minute and a half. I would reccommend this game to any Gundam fan or Dyansty Warriors fan, however if you are not someone into battling several opponents at once, I would pass on this but I still would tell anyone, this is a great game to own.

    Addicting Game5
If you are a Dynasty Warriors fan, you will like this. If you are a Gundam fan, you have to buy this. This game is very addicting and its replay value is high as you unlock characters and mobile suits as you finish each character's missions. It's hands down the best Gundam video game created.

    Story
An Anti-Earth Union Group (AEUG) pilot who calls himself Quattro Bajeena infiltrates the space colony known as Gryps, the headquarters of the Earth Federation's dreaded Titans taskforce. Confirming that the Titans are developing new Gundam Mk II mobile suits, Quattro and his comrades capture some of the machines and then return to the AEUG flagship, Argama. They are accompanied by a young civilian named Kamille Bidan, a talented pilot with strong newtype potential and no love for the Titans. Evading the pursuing Titans and their allies in the regular Federation Forces, the Argama makes its way to the moon, where the rebels receive new weapons and supplies from their sponsors. After capturing several Federation warships, the AEUG gathers its forces for its first major offensive - a massive mobile suit attack on the Titans' terrestrial supply base, the underground fortress of Jaburo in South America.

    Gameplay
Dynasty Warriors: Gundam 2, like its predecessor, is a hack and slash tactical action game based on several different anime within the popular and long-lived Gundam series. Action in these anime, and thus within Gundam 2, is based around combat that utilizes in-game mechanized mobile suits and the player's ability to pilot them in combat against hordes of similarly equipped enemies. The goal in this combat is to level up your chosen character and suit by doing enough damage against the low level enemies you face, and wherever possible, the huge boss character/mechs that are associated with the particular level you find yourself on. Gundam mobile suits feature laser swords, guns, as well as propulsion mechanisms, together which can be used in a few varieties of standard and charging attacks, as well as attacks designed to knock out all enemies within a certain range by charging a power gauge before acting. As you would expect, successful attacks against bosses require much more work and precision, and in many cases rapid input of button prompts flashed during combat.

    Multiple Play Modes
Gundam 2 also provides players with a few different play mode options. 'Official mode' is a default campaign where players attempt to level up characters by playing through existing plot lines from the various anime subject matter. In this mode you can choose to play from either the good, or evil side of things, but the characters are set. 'Mission mode' on the other hand allows players to mix characters and scenarios from the Gundam universe and associate them in different ways for different outcomes. Missions here are divided into several different categories, with completion of missions unlocking further play opportunities and classes of mobile suits. 'Library mode' provides players with background information on all the pilots, mobile suits and battle ships in the game. Lastly 'Versus mode' via PlayStation Network (PSN) allows players to compete against each other in three online campaigns.

    Key Game Features:

  • Combines the fast-paced excitement and epic, cinematic action of the Dynasty Warriors gameplay with the rich storylines and characters of the Gundam universe.
  • More mobile suits, plus stories featuring mecha from the latest Gundam series, including Char's Counter Attack and more.
  • Play as any of your favorite Gundam characters and mobile suits.
  • Engage in melee battles against the massive Psyco Gundam, which can quickly reconfigure their bodies into titanic mobile fortresses.
  • Customize your mobile suit with mecha parts collected during battle.
  • 2-player local co-op multiplayer and online versus multiplayer support via PlayStation Network.
  • PlayStation Network trophy support.

  • More Mobile Suits Than Ever
Because action in the Gundam series is so heavily influenced by its playable mobile suits, Dynasty Warriors: Gundam 2 has been designed to include more of these than ever before. Increasing the 19 available in the original Gundam game to more than 60, Dynasty Warriors: Gundam 2 is destined to provide both newbies to the Gundam universe and longtime fans more of the mechs that brought them to the game in the first place.

    New game same experience5
I bought the original DW:gundam game and loved it because it was the 1st good gundam game on a next gen console (cross roads sucked) and the first one to have co-op. The fist game was great and then the second one came out.

    Pros:
    New ploits and Mobile Suits
    A better Official mode.
    Bigger boss battles.
    Online and trophies
    Same controls.
(if you played the first game you can jump right into this one with out looking at the manuel)

    Fixed bosting.
(the first game forced you to keep on pressing the button to bost. Now you can just hold it.)

    Cons:
1.The "game over" problem - When you lose instead of offering you a "continue" or "retry" option it just asks you to save and then takes you back to the main screen as if they expect you to quit.

2.Attacks feel weaker - The charge and special attacks add a little ease to the game even if you were playing it in hard. The charge attacks helped you to get your special faster which in return helped you to beat fields and Enemies faster. Now The charge attacks only attack the 1 person infront of you instead of affecting the 3 + that could also be in the front as well. The special used to be great for "clearing" the field now it never seems to hit the mass amount of enemies that are in your line of sight. That in turn makes clearing the fields of enemies a much harder task.

    3. AI - They didn't fix it. In the first game if a enemy was attacking a Key ally in a mission you would have to watch them otherwise they would attacking until they die causing you to fail. It made it even harder since they never healed, and you couldn't heal them. Also if you need to heal and they were in red you had to choose between losing the missing by having them die or by dying yourself. Same problem is here in the second game. If a key ally is in red they don't run and you can't heal them, so you have to win fast or lose.

    4. Licenses - in the first game all you had to do is beat the character's story and you could use in mobile suit that you had at the time. Now you have earn it by working for it by doing License mission.

    5. free camera - The exception here is in the giant boss battles in which case it is locked on them which makes it hard to look for boxes that contain hp or sp items. The free came is nice but when the enemy is behind you which he can get quite often you are forced to manully turn the camera around. In the first game you could fix this by using the "block" button and it would automatically face you in the direction you were facing. While the same hold true here (at a slower pace now) it is just another problem they needed to fix and didn't.

It is still a great game, but if they do plan to do a thrid installment they should considering fixing the at least 3 of those key issues.

Prepare to launch your Mobile Suit5
    Pros:
    Online
Most of the Gundam Series are Represented
    It's Dynasty Warriors + Gundam
You can Actually shoot you enemy to death
Upgrades work offline and online(So Level Up)
    There are enough online modes
    It's 2 player
    Cons:
No Gundam X(They Have every AU series represented except this one.)
Online there limited number of areas you can have battle online

Overall this is a great game and I reccomend it to anyone that needs to relieve stress by destroying 1000s of MS(Mobile Suits),(MF)Mobile Fighters), or MA(Mobile Armors)

A Dynasty Game not Armored Core4
First off, I was looking forward to playing DW Gundam when this new version came out right when I was going to buy the original. So I did what a part time gamer would do, bought the newer one and checked it out.
In the Dynasty series, after completing a level, you could enjoy a little cenematic of warlords boasting or partying in triumph, but not so much in this game.
True to its Dynasty roots, this is a hack and slash game that can get very repetitive quickly, but it finds itself reinviting with Pshyco Gundam bosses that are huge. Ounce you get the hang of it, these bosses aren't so tough because they do not turn very well. I have been playing for about 3 weeks now, and found myself frustrated that Allies don't readily heal themselves, even when you are near them, so be careful. Some of the story lines are short, but then expanded in the mission modes. I find it very difficult to make friends with the AI characters for the mission mode when you start the game out as destroy all enemies. That's it, that the goal of most mission modes.
The huge bosses are a nice touch and something that can't be found in the Dynasty series, but I wish that body guards could be added like in the Dynasty series to help with the hard levels so that you can mod up your guard or have key characters join you when in battle, can you say (expansion?) Being able to play as a massive mobile pshyco gundam II would be cool, since the Dynasty series plays on your god like ability to massively wipe out all comers.
As soon as I started the Official mode on my HD LCD, I was dissapointed with the graphics since this was a 2nd game to come out in the series, and even more dissapointed with the grid view in space, but as you play, you get used to it and I don't notice the grids anymore in the background.
In no changing mobile suits, unlike Dynasty, no horse to jump on and you can find that getting from one area to the next in large games can take some time. Some Gundams transform into jets, awsome feature and they don't use that much boost either. It is like jumping on Red Hare without having to find it. The special or Musuo use would be nice to be able to upgrade like in Dynasty by finding equipment parts that are permanant like the scrolls that could be added to in Dynasty Dynasty Warriors 6.
this is not a mecha fighting game like Armored Core, if you are expecting something like that, you will be dissapointed from the lack of upgrades and abilities. If you have never played Dynasty or Armored CoreArmored Core: For Answer but like the old manga or anime, this game will touch that inner child, since most Gundam pilots are teenagers and grow up in apocolyptic conditions, but evolved in space. Robotech fans should enjoy this games from the PS2 versionRobotech: Battlecry
This game gets repetitive, but if you like Giant robot fighting and cheesy comments made every 50 characters destroyed, then you will like this game as a keeper. I still have almost every Dynasty Warriors on PS2 and the Samurai Series, that entertain me from time to time. The makers have not gotten the graphics to where they could yet, so there is still room for improvement. the official mode can play into events that supposedly happened but didn't play out in the series, but this game is limited to official play. Some Gundam games are like Mobile Suit Gundam: Crossfire were infuriating, because who wants to be side characters starting out on a slow paced game. It did take more time than I had to get into this game, cross fire, but I have it. Only because I am an anime fan and who does like creaming through enemies that are far inferior to you.
The levels on this game easy, normal and d hard should make it interesting for hours of play but the license requirements may be difficult if you end up killing all aces on the field, since the game say defeat all enemies, but the license says Amuro and Char need to be at affinity? That is tough. Overall I really enjoy this game, to be clear... it is like Armored Core, it does get easier the more you play and maybe too easy the more you play. I am still trying to get a hold of how to use the upgrade shop, and trying to figure out how to undo some of my gameplay without losing character information so I can pilot other suits during official mode with characters in mission mode.I would have liked to have seen more official mode game play, since the series runs into different shows and evolves with fudgy line on who is bad and good. Wanting to destroy humanity (Bad), Wanting to create peace by killing everyone who fights (good?)... that is the fudgy line in the series. unlike ZOE, every robot is supposed to have a pilot in it and you kill everyone, so not to kid friendly, but older kids know it is fiction anyways, so have fun with this game. Cartoon war fiction history is ok for all those who are afraid of games with graphic violence in war scenarios like Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, but this has robot parts blowing up.
I would like to see battle damage on thrashed mobile suits like the mega bosses for future games and still be able to be repaired with fallen gundam parts maybe?
Dynasty fans will like this game a hell of alot, No LU BU super character to be, but play with some different gundams, you may find that Kamile is pretty close and the Pshycho bosses are easy to defeat by yourself ounce you get stronger and more experianced, but when allies fight them also, be careful. It can be frustrating to lose because the AI just attacks and won't back off when the thing is doing a super explosion.

Note the fun rating. It IS a fun game. But...3
    It's overpriced.

Wait, before you lambaste me, let me explain. I played the PSP version extensively, hours and hours on end, got farther than I even remember getting. I didn't like it at first, thought it didn't have that Dynasty Warriors feel, and that KOEI or Tecmo was trying too hard to make the game difficult, thinking the increased challenge would improve the game's value. Sadly, that's the polar opposite thing to do if the game itself isn't fun. It's really not fun, until after you've had a chance to build up your character to some decent levels to where you can fight off enemies without dying at every turn, then the game turns it up a notch and you really can unleash some doom.

Those who have not played the game, skip to the very bottom. I've got something for you.

The PS3/360 versions of this game, despite what others might tell you, are 100% identical in gameplay to the PSP version. Meaning if you've played the PSP version, you already know what to expect on this version; from Bi Xie to Yellow Thunder to the Phoenix to the Yellow Turban battles...all are perfectly identical to the PSP version. That's both a good and a bad thing - it's good in that if you liked the PSP version you'll like the next gen versions if you can excuse the fact that the graphics are clearly PS2-ish. It's bad in that really, these versions of the games should be 30 bucks AT MOST. I can actually tell you the reason they cost more.

The PSP version supported multiplayer via adhoc, meaning if you and a couple of buddies all had PSPs in the same room, you could set up an adhoc network and go at it that way...think of it as a wireless System Link setup. The PS3 and 360 versions take this a step further by using the PlayStation Network / Xbox Live to allow friends to battle online together, up to four at any given time (Which I find to be a bit overkill, more on that later). This is definitely a cool feature; even the demo lets you do this to get a taste of what it would be like, and if you've got friends who are on the fence because "it doesn't feel like Dynasty Warriors", you should introduce them to this mode and I guarantee they'll be hooked. The PS3 obviously gets a slight nod here for being free to play online, but it's clear that they added a $20 premium to the game because of the online gameplay. That's their prerogative, but it's really infuriating.

Before you ask, no, you can't cross platform. Meaning you can't use your PS3 version to connect with a friend that has the 360 version. When you want to set up online, you'll create your own "online city", and then invite a friend to that city. The invite is sent within your friends list or within the ID system of the PlayStation Network, up to three friends can join. You can't send invites via email, for example, and there doesn't seem to be any other way to send these invites, so no cross platforming, which is okay. Latency is definitely an issue; I have a NASA-quality connection of 20Mbps down/2Mbps up, and my connection was fine, but my friend had 7Mbps down and probably 512Kbps up, and I noticed him stuttering at times. It didn't detract from the experience with just the two of us, but keep in mind that most of these types of peer-to-peer networks will generally use the lowest connection speed to determine the experience, so if you've got four people going to battle, make sure they've got good internet.

Speaking of the number of people, I mentioned earlier that I've played the PSP version extensively. I've played that version by myself, never did multiplayer (my friends are not local), and I got pretty far by myself. I also mentioned that there will come a point where you can handle any scenario thrown at you, for the most part. Because of this, you could look at the difficulty level like this:

1 person: Extreme at first, Tough after gaining some levels, but not impossible nor a breeze
2 people: Tough at first, still tough after gaining levels, but eventually you'll breeze through things
3 people: Tough at first, a breeze thereafter

This is because of the nature of the game. With the exception of a select few stages where you have to pass objectives to open the path forward, for the most part you could do little more than speed to the bonus objective, pass that, then kill the final general and get mass amounts of points. Lather-rinse-repeat on the same stage, and eventually you'll be at a level where you can dominate your enemy. Two people make this even easier; the experience and items you gain in multiplayer carry over to the single player and vice versa from what I can tell. I might be incorrect in this assessment, but it appears as though the character increases are cumulative. My friend and I are waiting for a significant price drop and then we'll be buying copies to test that theory, but that's what it looks like.

    HAVEN'T EVER PLAYED THE GAME?

That's okay. What I said above still applies; it's overpriced. If you've at least played Dynasty Warriors you already know what to expect in terms of selecting a fighter and going out to fight hordes of mindless minions. What Strikeforce does is challenge the way you accomplish the task by presenting it like a cross between a role playing game and Dragon Ball Z. If that sounds confusing, don't feel bad...it's an odd mixture. You'll pick your character, and you select quests at a message board in the town. These quests vary from bandit defeat to saving peasants. Each time you complete a quest you'll be rewarded with experience and money, which both can be used to build up your character. You can also acquire materials in the battle which are used, in conjunction with the money, to build and buy accessories or enhance your weapons. Each warrior has two weapons, a primary and a secondary, to use in battle, and generally the primary is the stronger of the two. The secondary weapon is almost always faster and lighter, and more effective against wizards and the like, though that doesn't stop you from using it other places.

You can obtain accessories that will enhance your abilities even further. Those who remember Dynasty Warriors 3 and 4 might remember the various elements that were presented in the game. With these accessories, you'll be able to add these elements to your attacks. It might seem pointless, but these elements can mean the difference between total defeat and easy victory. Also, the Musou has been changed, to a two level style...the first is an "enraged" mode (thus the DBZ reference), the second is the actual Musou attack. In rage mode your attacks are significantly stronger, and if you have an element like fire on your weapon, your character might add projectiles to his/her standard attacks. While in rage mode your Musou bar will go down, so this should be saved for the most difficult of fights.

In town you can buy various items like meatbuns; they are sometimes found out in the field, but you'll observe in this game that the level of difficulty makes it almost a requirement for you to buy items beforehand. If you try to rely on what's in the field, you'll find yourself face down frequently. While you do get 3 lives (instead of the instant death of the previous games), you will find some quests that will fail you after one death, so better safe than sorry: spend the cash and get some meat buns. There are other items that enhance your weapons as well.

The difficulty in the game is sincerely ramped versus other Dynasty Warriors. This is in part because the enemy generals can also go into rage mode, causing your attacks to not stun or knock them down, and their energy is often so high that repeated attacks don't appear to be doing much damage at all. There are also oversized "character helpers" throughout the game, like Lu Bu's Bi Xie, a giant lion, or the Yellow Turbans' Yellow Thunder, a giant mechanical lightning generator. These add to the difficulty by giving another way for you to die without even realizing it. You can't focus on the generals if these helpers are alive, so the game encourages you to take them out first, but doing so might cost you the bonus for that quest, so be careful.

Is it a bad game? Not at all. It's a lot of fun multiplayer. It's fun single player. But it's overpriced at retail. Definitely wait for a price drop before buying this, because unless you're just addicted to mindless fun, the game is just not fun enough to warrant its current price point, and despite what anyone tells you, besides the multiplayer it's the same exact game as the PSP version (currently available for 20 bucks).

Good hack n' slasher with alot of variety.4
Recieved the game (PS3) on the 22nd, and have been playing it off & on for some hours now. It's pretty good if you like fighting games w/leveling perks or are just a fan of the Dynasty Warriors series.
I myself have only DW6, DW:Empires and now this one on console. I've played some of the older games on my PC, so I am a little bit used to the series, albiet not an expert. So far this is pretty fun, not overly complicated but also not too simple. The audio is well done and the graphics are nice although alot of the enemy troops look like clones, this does work well enough for this game as it can get pretty hectic and fast & furious with alot going on at once, it hasn't hiccuped or slowed down at all-plays smoothly. The jumping and fighting in the air is pretty cool, especially since I am using an archer as my primary weapon is a bow. Can pull off some cool double jumps and start firing away in flight, and since I'm basically starting out, I have been fighting mostly ground troops. Jump up on a few ledges and leap off from there spraying arrows into the crowd below, this is works well when they start climbing up the ledges/areas after you. The controls are easy enough, well placed and very responsive (just a tap on a button and it responds instantly). I havn't tried online yet as I am just starting out and checking out of what little I can see of the map so far & getting a feel of the game. The towns offer storage, blacksmith, shrines, guards, merchants, quest boards and more. I think I counted 8+ or so NPCs I could interact with at the beginning town of the clan I chose. The map can be zoomed in and out, you can change secondary weapons with a button press. So far a good hack n' slash fighting game that expands more as you move up in experience, to distribute skills as you see fit for your chosen character. There are 3 clans, each with 10 I think different characters to choose from that are all completely different from each other, although some seem like hybrids of the primary "class" types. DW:Strikeforce allows you the option of installing it to your hdd. The animations are good, the graphics look nice especially the special effects. This was a topic that I had planned to write up a proper review after I play this some more and experiment, but alas there is no review yet. I think it's safe to say people that like KOEI games will enjoy this very much. To me this one is better than DW:6 and DW:6 Empires. There seems to be more options available and more flexability in Strikeforce. On the PSN store there are addons, if I remember correctly. I will edit this mini review as I play it more, so far the missions are fetching, assassinations and diversions that I have seen with some mean arse bosses, again I'm still new to Dynasty Warriors: Strikeforce and never played on the PSP, but looking at it's reviews (around 80%+) and much better graphics, the full console version is much more in depth and of course much better looking. I enjoyed Dynasty Warriors 6 over Empires, and this one seems more like DW:6 in gameplay, but just better all around. Much more slick in every way. If you like the series, this game won't let you down. I almost want to say it's DW:6+, but it is much more that that with the much wanted/requested online co-op/multiplayer options. Ok back to my mission of explorational slaughterfest.

    Dynasty Warriors5
It is another installment for you Dynasty Warrior fans. I bought this for my son who has loved these games since they first started. He had a good time with it and it gave him many hours of enjoyment.

    Customer Reviews

Very good, but could be better4
Overall, this game is a huge improvement from last year's version. The game play is alot smoother, graphics are very clean and the new arenas are great!! Having said that there are some complaints that I have. I'm not sure if this is true for other schools, but I've been playing as Kentucky and their entire freshman class is missing from the game. The create-a-player or player editor is a pain because you have to exit after you save changes for a single player, so to name 12 guys on your team takes about 30 mins. The crowd chants are really cool and school specific and I like the idea that not every game is a sellout, but teams like the Dukes and UKs draw huge road crowds even if the team is ranked low. Basically, low ranking for either team involved means very small crowd for the game. The commentary is pretty smooth, but the sound quality can be scratchy sometimes. I like the dynasty mode, it's modeled after the football game, but the rankings are a little out of wack. If don't play the Maui Invitational, your team is dropped way out of the rankings just because a team like Iowa State is 8-0 and you haven't played yet. The scheduling another problem. You have to send out letters to schools to ask to play them, a really cool idea, but disappointing when the computer wouldn't let me play Louisville, my archrival. Overall, the game is fun to play and is much more of a sim than last year. There is still some room to grow, though.

Gameplay is Great, other parts drag it down3
First the good. The gameplay for this game is just great. Although not as clean-running as NBA Live of the same year, it is a super game that captures the feeling of playing the college game. You can play any team, and the feeling is the same. Just a lot of fun to play. Good quickplay, and good coaching options too to tailor the games the way you want to play. Good customization.

    Now the bad.
    1) Load times are long. Not terribly so, but just enough to aggrivate you every time. Just a little longer than needs be.
2)Edit player. You have to exit out of the entire menu. To do every player would take more time than I have, or most humans have. I bought a memory card to have the names. Granted, EA cannot use the college names, but don't make it so hard to put them in!!!!
    3) Coaching contracts are a joke. I made the final 4 three years in a row, and was fired. Turn them off, is my advice, then you can play as long as you want. If you are fired, you have to find another team to play with. I would prefer to keep my one college going, so that option should have been included.
4)Simulating games. Incredibly tedious. Get some speed!!!!!

Final analysis: Buy used, if you can. Hope to see improvement next year. I will use this for draft classes, but for basketball gameplay I use NBA LIve

Good game play, but too many other problems2
Let me start with the positive: The gameplay is pretty good, which makes up for a lot. However, the problems are overwhelming. A list:

    1) Like in NCAA Football, you get to pick your favorite team the first time you start up the game. Unlike NCAA Football, there is no way to save this setting, so the screen asking you to pick your favorite team pops up EVERY time you enter the game.

    2) There is no auto-saving or auto-loading, so every time you enter the game, you have to load your settings, your user profile and your dynasty. And instead of asking you after every game you play if you would like to save everything, you have to go through and do it separately. Save user profile, save dynasty, save settings...it gets tedious.

    3) Typing in names is nuts. Every time you type in a player's name and save it, it takes you all the way back out to the main roster menu and you have to start again. Click edit rosters, scroll through the hundreds of teams to find yours, then scroll through the players to get the one you want to edit. Just doing the 11 or 12 players on your team is frustrating.

    4) You can't use this year's actual schedule. You either have to choose your out-of-conference opponents (and hope they will accept your challenge) or have your out-of-conference opponents randomly selected for you. Then the dates of the games are randomly selected, so even if you get all the teams on your team's schedule this season to accept your challenges, the order in which you play those games will be nothing like the actual order that your team played them.

    5) When you put the ball out of bounds, the little EA Sports logo swipes across the screen to cut to the throw-in, and the opposing team throws it in way to fast, sometimes even before the EA logo is finished swiping. This means no time to set up your defense to try to steal the ball on the in-bounds pass. This is extremely frustrating when you are down by 4-8 points in the last couple minutes.

    6) The biggest problem of them all. One of those HOW DO YOU MAKE THAT ERROR type mistakes... They set it up so the conference standings are set by teams' overall records instead of in-conference records. Absolutely ridiculous. When I saw this after playing one season on Dynasty mode, I wanted to throw the CD in the garbage. Unbelievable.

Honestly, the game play is great. Far better than 989's Final Four 2003, which I bought last year and was disappointed by. But it's like no one tested the menu functions or save functions or roster functions...and most of all, it seems like no one who knew thing one about college basketball even gave the game so much as a once-over before it was shipped. It's just not what you would expect from EA.

PLEASE EA, FIX THIS FOR NEXT YEAR!!!
