SingStar 80's
I have enjoyed playing several Karaoke Revolution titles and was expecting something similar when I purchased this game. While it is similar it still has several differences. Instead of showing an animated character 'singing' the songs, this game shows the music video to the song above the words. This can be a little distracting at times, but it's a nice change of pace. I found the 'in tune' indication in this game far more difficult to get used to and adjust for than in Karaoke Revolution games. Instead of a line with an arrow indicating the pitch there are 'bubbles' that become highlighted if you are singing in tune. There is still an arrow indicating if you are too high or too low, but it's a little hard because there are two different methods to show when you are in tune and out of tune. Maybe it's just me, but I think the Karaoke Revolution games are a lot easier. I like this game because of the 80's songs I haven't heard in a long time. It might seem more difficult too because a lot of the songs in this game I haven't heard in such a long time, or were 80's songs just that much more difficult to sing? Maybe I just didn't have a pitch indicator when I used to sing along with these songs! It is nice having two mics so someone else can be embarrassed with you.
Singstar 80's great for 20.00 or less
The game is really fun... for awhile. Alas, as with all things you get tired of singing the same songs over and over. Although you get 30 songs many you may just not enjoy singing. The layout of the singing program is difficult to follow if you are not familiar with the song/lyrics. Rockband is much easier because the words are directly below the bars and the bars go all the way across the screen. With SingStar they are short and you barely have time to read the next line and figure out the vocal patterns. Unless you are familiar with all the songs and this type of format it may be frustrating to sing to.
LOADS OF FUN!
My fiance and I sing these songs over and over again. We've had this for over a year and have received lots of enjoyment from it.
